Nutritional therapy is a holistic approach to wellbeing that looks at nutrient intake, lifestyle and environmental factors that may be impacting a person’s health. It is about looking at the whole person rather than just their symptoms.
Nutritional therapists work to support individuals in restoring and maintaining their optimal health by correcting nutritional insufficiencies, implementing dietary changes and looking at lifestyle factors.
An initial consultation will take 90 minutes and a case history will be taken where information such as medical history, current diet and lifestyle, bowel habits, sleep quality etc are discussed to help build a complete picture of overall health.
A personalised plan will then be created within 5 working days including dietary recommendations, lifestyle, and environmental adjustments. Supplements or further laboratory tests may also be recommended at an additional cost.
* In person consultations at the Rothery Health Centre, Pembroke
* Online consultations available via zoom
That is entirely up to you. At least one follow up is recommended around 4-8 weeks after the initial consultation; however, if symptoms have been present for years it may be necessary to work with your nutritional therapist for longer.
* Concessions are available on request. Please contact me to discuss.
A range of tests are available privately to help establish the root cause of any symptoms a person may be experiencing.
These are recommended on a case-by-case basis and will be discussed in detail at the initial consultation. This may include Comprehensive Stool Analysis, Food Intolerance Testing, Organic Acid testing, Hair Mineral analysis, DUTCH testing and many more. Wherever possible we will work with your G.P. for blood testing.
We are all genetically and biochemically unique. Nutrigenomic testing enables us to look at our DNA in detail, providing us with information relating to hormone balance, mental health, detoxification, sports performance, nervous system function and more.
Nutrigenomic plans enable us to take a proactive approach to health tailored to a person’s genetic makeup. They may also look at a persons risk of developing chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, neurological conditions and diabetes and strategies for prevention.
DNA testing can be done via a mouth swab or blood spot test. It will be at an extra cost and can only be carried out with an initial consultation.
